With the Baby Signs® Program you can!
Using
sign language with babies helps to jump-start their language, socio-emotional,
and cognitive development. It does NOT delay language acquisition, as
many people once thought. All the research to date demonstrates supportive
benefits for using sign language with babies. Whether your baby is a
typically developing hearing child, has special needs, or is deaf or
hard of hearing, using the Baby Signs® Program
will give your child a head start in language development and the skills
necessary to become a good reader. By allowing babies to communicate
their needs directly with their parents and caregivers, long before
they can talk, the frustration and tantrums typically seen in these
early years is significantly reduced.
Using sign language with babies is easy to do and does not require a lot of extra time or energy by the parents or caregivers. The Baby Signs® Workshops will teach you easy ways to integrate important signs into your every day routines. The signs are based on American Sign Language (ASL) and are supportive of the developmental stage that babies are at when first learning to sign.

Kelly Rain Collin is an Independent Certified Baby
Signs® Instructor in the Los Angeles area. She has a BA
in Child Development/Child Mental Health and a BA in Psychology from
California State University Northridge, and earned her Masters in Education
from Harvard University. She has been using sign language to communicate
with friends and colleagues since 1989 and joined the Baby Signs®
family in December 2005.
Kelly had the opportunity to use the Baby Signs® Program with her identical twin nephews. With their parents, extended family, and childcare center all using the Baby Signs® Program, the twins were able to effectively communicate with everyone they knew before they were able to talk. They are now happy and playful 3½ year-olds with amazing vocabularies!
