Navigating the Nervous System
The path to confident young learners starts here
Research in neuroscience is increasingly confirming how thoroughly integrated the nervous system is within nearly – if not all – aspects of human functioning. Through understanding our evolutionary development and identifying the biological cues our body provides, our nervous system guides our path to regulation.
In Navigating the Nervous System, we will explore how the body senses safety and threat and the physiological responses that we experience as a result of those sensations. We’ll explore how situations, environments, health and people can provide us with cues of safety or cues of threat and the ramifications these experiences have on our current functioning and long-term health. Healthy Minds Consulting uses a combination of articles, graphics and illustrations, and trainings and presentations to illuminate the impact of our body’s neuroception (how the nervous system detects threat or safety) on our actions.
In this section of our site we will, over time, link to pages and articles that illustrate the intersection of brain, body, relationship, and environment and how this interplay impacts development, learning, and behavior. If you have questions or ideas on topics you’d like us to consider including in future materials, please contact us and we will consider adding them to future content.
Below is where we are collecting our observations and sharing information aimed at reframing how we think about human actions and interactions.
