Common Errors in IEPs
Observations from a detailed-oriented advocate with a compulsion for proofreading
Even the most well-intentioned team can create an IEP unintentionally filled with logic gaps, goals without clear ways to measure success, and information gleaned from layers of policy and practice that miss the I in IEP (Individualized Education Program).
Common Errors in IEPs is a series of observations gleaned from years of encountering issues and mistakes made in IEPs. In conjunction with our Understanding the IEP series, Healthy Minds Consulting uses a combination of articles, graphics and illustrations, and trainings and presentations, to identify many of the common mistakes and errors in IEP documents in order to help the team craft a more effective and supportive educational program.
From this section of our site we will, over time, link to pages and articles that bring to light these issues. If you have any questions about the IEP or topics you would like us to consider including in future materials, contact us and we will consider adding them to future content.
Below is where we are collecting our observations and shining a light into the fog that many IEPs are shrouded in to help you craft a clearer and more appropriately supportive IEP document for you and your student.
