When working with your IEP team on goals for your student, be aware of these very distinct differences in terminology. Baselines and Present Levels of Performance are often thought of as synonymous terms. PRESENT LEVELS OF PERFORMANCE (PLOP)
A PLOP is a general overview of the student’s current functioning level in a specific subject area or identified area of need.
BASELINE
A Baseline is specific information defining the student’s current level of functioning related to the goal and provides sufficient information/data for the goal to be measured effectively.
